Professor Robert Kozma

Robert Kozma (M’98–SM’02–F’13) received the M.S. degree in power engineering from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Moscow, Russia, in 1982, the M.S. degree in mathematics from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary, in 1988, and the Ph.D. degree in applied physics from the Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands, in 1992.,He became an Assistant Professor/Lecturer with the Department of Information Sciences, Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand, in 1996. In 1998, he held a joint appointment with the Division of Neurobiology and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, USA. In 2009, he was appointed as a Professor of Computer Science with The University of Memphis, Memphis, TN, USA. He has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Quantum Science and Engineering, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, since 1993. Since 2009, he has been a Professor of Mathematical Sciences with The University of Memphis. Since 2001, he has been the Director of the Computational Neurodynamics Laboratory (currently CLION), FedEx Institute of Technology, The University of Memphis.,Dr. Kozma served on AdCom of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) from 2009 to 2012, and on the Governing Board of the International Neural Network Society (INNS) from 2004 to 2012. He is the Chair of the Distinguished Lecturer Program of the IEEE CIS. He has been a Technical Committee Member of the IEEE CIS since 1996. He also served in leading positions at over 20 international conferences, including the General Chair of the IEEE/INNS International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN) in Atlanta, GA, USA, in 2009, the Program Co-Chair of the IJCNN/World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI) in Hong Kong in 2008, the Program Co-Chair of IJCNN in Budapest, Hungary, in 2004, and the Chair for Finances of the IEEE WCCI in Vancouver, BC, Canada, in 2006. He is an Associate Editor of Neural Networks, the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, Neurocomputing, and the Journal of Cognitive Neurodynamics
